Kärntner Dellach

Kärntner Golf-Club Dellach in one of the oldest golf clubs in Austria and it’s named after the federal state of Carinthia (Kärntner in German) and Dellach, which is the adjacent lakeside resort. The Carinthian Golf Club Dellach is one of the three oldest golf clubs in Austria (the oldest being Vienna) and it’s situated on the south bank of Lake Wörthersee.

It’s a gorgeously scenic setting with the dramatic backdrop of the Alps and the beautiful shallow Lake Wörthersee in the foreground. The climate here in Austria's south, is pleasantly mild, extending the golfing season. But even here, there will be plenty of snow on the ground during the winter months.

Kärntner Dellach is delightfully undulating with some lovely elevation changes (take a buggy if you don’t fancy some tough walking). Despite its modest length (5,609 metres from the tips), it remains one of Austria’s most challenging courses.

The Kärntner Golf-Club Dellach is currently the home of the Kärntner Regional Golf Union. Founded in 1927, its long tradition is a result of the British Armed Forces who were stationed in the area. The BTA Cup (British Troops in Austria) is still played for today at Kärntner Dellach. We understand that an unknown French architect originally designed the course as a nine-holer and it was later extended in the 1950s. Does anybody know who designed it?

Use your driver sparingly on the tight front nine which weaves its way through the trees. The back nine is more open and its here that you can reach for your driver, but make sure you don’t get distracted by the breathtaking views over Lake Wörthersee to the distant Alps. Golfing views don’t come any better that at Kärntner Dellach.
